Last night, I started watching the Royal Tennenbaums before bed. I got it for Christmas 2 years ago, I think, but I had to take the wrapping off--apparently I don't love it as much as I thought...I fell asleep long before the movie was over, so I was watching it this morning when Mike surprised me and I finally got him to watch parts of it. After years of insisting that he really hated it, he laughed. Laughed. And admitted that he would like to watch the rest of it. I'm awesome.

I'd also been cleaning prior to that, but you really don't want to see my sweats-and-a-do-rag outfit. So, when we went out to have lunch (delicious) and see a movie (21--it was terrible) I had to clean up a bit. I came up with this:

Hmm, this picture is a little out of focus. Lame. I'll have words with the photographer (Mike).

While at the mall for the movie, I managed to sneak in some Gap shopping! I'm pretty stoked on what I got.

This is kind of baggy. I like it. A little nautical, but not too much.

This is super light and I feel really feminine when I wear it. It'll be perfect when the weather warms up a bit.

Love this color. It reminds me of sorbet.

School starts tomorrow...awesome?

3/29/08

My apartment is clean, I am +a few good songs in my iTunes and I like all the people I met for my China trip today. Generally good.

Yes, you can see a tattoo on my right hip.

All the clothes are Old Navy
Shoes: Converse

And for some reason, my computer isn't willing to upload images anymore. Fucked up. So you don't get makeup shots. Oh well. I went to my China GTF's apartment and made dumplings and chit-chatted with a couple people going on the trip. In a little while, I'm going to go to Rennie's with the usual suspects.

Today I've been really into The Beatles and Beatles covers today, which is strange. I didn't listen to them growing up (my parents were too young to have listened to them when they were popular, so it wasn't something they played all the time) and now when I hear them, they seem...lacking. I know that's blasphemous, but I think there's something missing. However, I usually like covers so obviously there's something to it. Anyway, I put a few songs from the Across the Universe soundtrack, a With a Little Help from my Friends cover by Joe Cocker (the Wonder Years theme) and a couple originals on my iPod. I feel slightly more hip for it.

Hello, yes, I'm sorry for disappearing for so many days without even warning you. I've been working like a mad woman for Willamalane's Spring Break Camp. It was a good time, though I can't say I'm sad it's over. 7 hours a day with 4th and 5th graders is intense. I couldn't be a teacher. But the staff were, as always, wicked cool. Given that I was just working with kids, then either going home and crashing by myself or crashing with Mike and a movie, I wasn't dressing very fancily. I didn't really think about posting pictures, so I never took any. But I'm back with a fury today! I have some pictures from my trip to the beach with Mike yesterday. I wore:

Sweatshirt: Gap
T-Shirt: American Apparel
Jeans: Lane Bryant
Shoes: Converse

This T-Shirt is another from Buckman's "Art Rocks" fund raiser. Instead of a skull, it's a flaming heart. Pretty badass. The sweatshirt is delectably comfortable and the chucks are pretty much the only sneakers I own. For the benefit of any of you out there who don't know the joy of the Oregon coast, I've included a couple more pictures of the scenery.

In true Oregon style, it was rain/snowing when we got there, the sun broke a bit later, but it was crazy windy and then it started raining again when we left.

I'm off to shower and get ready for a gathering for my China trip. Pictures of that to come.

I'm in a bad mood. I'll make the enlightening post I was going to write later.

It's my dad's birthday. Also, pretty much everybody on the face of the earth's birthday. And Easter. So:

Yep. Looks pretty much the same as any other day.

Dress: Gap (which is now on sale! Damn them!)
Cami: Torrid
Leggings: Xhilaration at Target
Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Belt: Old Navy

Ah, you only get one awful picture of my face today. I've been breaking out a lot, my skin is not as smooth and creamy as it once was. I need to work on that.

Lips: MAC Lipgelee in Saplicious

I'm pretty gross right now, can't lie. I'm coughing shit up and it's making me snotty and generally unpleasant to be around. Luckily, none of my friends (save for maybe Kaitlin) are in town to see me.

3/22/08

Whelp. Another day, another boring outfit. After last night's awesome Obama outfit, I was hard pressed to have a good follow-up, so I didn't even try.

Yeah, that's in my brother's bedroom again. Let me clarify something so this seems a little less creepy: I was my room when I lived at home. When I come to Portland for a visit, I sleep there because the other option is for me to sleep on the couch. My mom doesn't want me sleeping on the couch because I never get up in the morning and everybody else is up and moving around in the living room. So my brother gets to sleep on the couch. Sucks for him.

After the rally, Mike and I drove up to Oregon City. The plan had originally been to get me all the way home to St. John's, but it's 45 minutes past the OC, thereby tacking and hour and a half onto Mike's drive. Plus we were both exhausted. So we slept at his mom's house, which was actually pretty nice. We slept on top of two futon mattresses stacked together. It was quite comfortable. Plus, waking up with no obligations is nice. As is reading in bed. Following that, I just went home, then to my Grandma's, then back again.
T-Shirt and Jeans: Old Navy

Now, I'm on my way out to see the Rose City Kings in Oregon City. Got fancy.

Yes. Fancy.

Cardigan and T Shirt: Old Navy

And I put on makeup

I'm hot cuz I'm fly.

3/21/08

Today is a very special day. Today is the day that I will see Mr. Barack Obama speak on campus for free. I am so excited! However, before I show you what I'm wearing to that (and let me assure you, it's going to impress the hell out of Mr. Obama), I'm going to recount last night's Obama or a Llama? party. Funny note, this party was named before it was ever announced that he was coming to campus. Heidi is just fucking awesome.

Obama or a Llama?

Shirt: Xhilaration at Target
Jeans: Lane Bryant
Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Attitude: All me.

As an interesting aside, Kaitlin gave me this shirt for Christmas last year. She's pretty awesome at shopping for other people.

She's also pretty apt at dressing herself. Vests are very chic right now, and I always love layered tank tops.

The core four, all looking awesome. We're a pretty stylish bunch, if I do say so myself.

Now, today, I'm going to see this "Obama" character that we were celebrating last night. Wearing this:

This is my delightfully clean apartment. Also, I may need to put a sweater on, as I'm going to be waiting in line outside Mac Court for a good hour and a half or two hours to get a seat. No matter.

Shirt: Forever 21
Dress: Mossimo Black at Target
Tights and Belt: Old Navy
Shoes: Charlotte Russe

These black flats have been getting a lot of play recently, I know. I can't really help it, though, they just happen to go with everything I own.

3/20/08

Oh, things just seem to be going well right now. Of course, I just jinxed myself, but, these are the facts. Finals are over, I'm working on a resume to send up to Portland, Deb Morrison is a very sweet lady and I got to fend off a drunk guy at Rennie's last night.

Yesterday:

Wore this to a resume seminar with Deb, my COLT final, to Megan's for ANTM and then finally out for drinks and scrabble. Mike took this at his apartment.

Dress: So at Kohl's
Shirt: Old Navy
Leggings: Xhilaration at Target
Shoes: Charlotte Russe

Today:

I'm really feeling the polo today. I'm not really sure why. Also, I've been very blinky recently.

Everything but the black sweater: Old Navy
Black Sweater: Forever 21

I haven't worn makeup for the last couple of days. Yesterday, it was because I was in too much of a hurry when I was leaving. Today, it's because I don't want to. I'm feeling very natural today.

AND NOW, the inaugural edition of the segment "Rock it or Mock it?"

Whilst Megan, Mike, Nat and I were at Rennie's playing scrabble last night, we encountered this man:

We thought "hm, what an interesting choice to wear in public while not at a costume party." I couldn't get any pictures with ALL of this tiny top hat, but here are a few more for reference.

My question to you is: would you rock it or mock it?

3/18/08

So, you may be asking yourself "why didn't mini post the undoubtedly fabulous outfit she wore for St. Patrick's day?" I will tell you: I didn't go out. I know, I know. I'm in college...a holiday about getting drunk should be like...a high holy holiday. But it's finals week and though I don't have a final until tomorrow, my friends are all studying their asses off and couldn't go out last night. Not wanting to be that girl who is all alone and reeks of 151 so badly you thought there was a bum in the bar, I stayed in. Mike and I had linner (the 7:00 meal that is only the 2nd of 3) at the Glenwood...mildly disappointing as usual, though I had a lovely Martenelli's sparkling soda. This was the only time I left my apartment all day, so I decided not to bore you with the polo and jeans I wore.

But today! Oh yes, today, I have a simply stunning outfit that will go above and beyond even your wildest expectations of what I, mini-mini-mingram would ever wear.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. I am, in fact, wearing a concert T (purchased at a real live concert) and a pair of green converse. Tres chic. I know.

T-Shirt: The Shins
Cardigan: Old Navy
Jeans: Lane Bryant
Sneakers: Converse

This is going to be seen by possibly dozens of people. I'm going to work and out for drinks with Megan after work. Because I can. I'm 21.

I'm quite in love with my hair cut right now. Seriously. I love having bangs when they sit right and don't try to stab people in the eye (because they're sticking straight out).

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NC 25
Eyes: MAC Paint in Bare Canvas, MAC Eyeshadow in Juxt and Stars N' Rockets, MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black, MAC Plushlash in Plush Black
Lips: Benefit Lipstick in What A Red

My apartment is so clean I would invite people over.

3/16/08

Still sick. ugh. I promise I will have my menswear feature soon...I accidentally deleted the images from my camera. I also intend to have a "skanks in bars" feature as well. Because, well, there are a lot of skanks in bars.

For today: grocery shopping and lunch with Sigmas at McMinemans.

T-Shirt: Old Navy
Jeans: Bitten Sarah Jessica Parker for Steve and Barry's

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NC 25

Sorry I don't have any witty anecdotes tonight. Too sick. I'm off my game.

3/15/08

Hello loyal readers. I'm sorry my hiatus went a day longer than I said it would, I just didn't have anything special to show you yesterday. And I had a pretty terrible hangover. Please forgive me. However, today I have a double feature: today's outfit+what I believe will be a top trend this summer.

First, today. I actually only got dressed like an hour ago. Prior to that, I'd been cleaning and napping...I really don't feel very well. I would have gone grocery shopping today, but it was raining and that's not conducive to bike riding. Anywho, Mike and I are going to go see Juno here in a bit, so I decided I should really put something other than a cami and sweat pants on.

This may not be the most flattering dress I've ever owned, but it's comfy and easy to wear! And I love the shirt, it's a waffle knit with cowboy hats and boots all over.

Shirt: Levi's
Dress: Mossimo Black at Target
Tights: Simply Vera Vera Wang at Kohl's
Belt and Shoes: Old Navy

Makeup is simple today:

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NC 25
Eyes: MAC Paint in Bare Canvas, MAC Eyeshadow in Stars N' Rockets, MAC Plushlash in Plush Black
Lips: MAC Pro Longwear in Perennial Rose

NOW! #1 trend for Summer! Stenciled T-shirts with dinosaurs and rap lyrics!

"Yes. I crank it everyday."

"Boots with the furrrrr"

"Aint nobody dope as me"

Fuckin hot, right? Right. I thought so. Look for them on the Marc Jacobs summer runway. You saw it here first!

Also, bonus feature: Shoes Kaitlin gave me for my birthday.

My friends know me ridiculously well.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Hello lovelies! I'm writing this at 5:50 in the morning after 10 straight hours with my ad group working on this motherfucking presentation for Wednesday. The rest of the week doesn't look like it will be much better, so I'm declaring a hiatus until Friday night. I'll see you then and it will be a magical reunion. I'll be 21 then, as well. Be ready for that.

3/9/08

Hey lovebirds, I'm back in Eugene! Today was...well, a little high stress toward the end. However, the beginning was quite nice. I went to Target with my Grandma (spoils from that to come), breakfast with Marcel (you're also welcome to come up with your own alias) and crazy amounts of errands running with my parents. But hey, I got fro-yo out of it. OH, and I broke into Eliza's parent's house. I really shouldn't be so creepy. Anyway, I wore this:

Look familiar? Yeah, I'm running out of inspiration with the rest of my wardrobe. Uh-oh.

Everything but the shoes: Old Navy
Shoes: Victoria's Secret

If I look really greasy and disgusting, it's because I'm really greasy and disgusting.

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NC 25
Eyes: MAC Paint in Bare Canvas, MAC Eyeshadow in Samoa Silk and Mulch, MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black, MAC Plushlash in Plush Black
Lips: MAC Lacquer in Akrylicka (which seems to have been discontinued. Sad story.)

You can't have enough LBDs.

Square-Neck Solid Dress in Black by Mossimo Black at Target

This looks kind of frumpy on the hanger, but it's actually ridiculously cute.

Printed Tunic in Pebble/Metallic by Mossimo Black at Target

Super, super comfy. I think I may go back and by 17,000,000 more pairs. Also, I've needed to get a pair of leggings for quite a while. In fact, I almost bought a pair yesterday while I was out with Eliza.

3/8/08

Greetings from the rose city! Yes, I trekked all the way up the I-5 corridor to bring you this special edition of Mini's exercise in vanity.

...Actually, I just came up to see my best friend from way back when who was in town from Chicago. And see my family.

BUT here we go with today's story:

1. Woke up at 8:45 when my train was supposed to leave at 9. Didn't have time to brush my teeth or my hair! (Ick!). Experienced the worst train ride of my life. Did my makeup while waiting for ...Eliza... outside Union Station. God, I really need to come up with better aliases. I'm also fairly certain that I have a sign floating over my head that says "I'm really approachable and enjoy talking to people. Especially strangers."

2. Had lunch (sushi) and window shopped on 23rd (hip shopping district in Portland). I felt rather out of place, but discovered that I lovelovelove the store Three Monkeys. We also went to my neighborhood camera store (Blue Moon) where the guy working the counter asked Eliza to let him take her portrait and she obliged. He didn't like me because I asked if they had any dSLRs I could play with. Apparently Blue Moon is anti-digital.

3. Dinner with my family. We tried to go to Joe's Crabshack in Vancouver, but ended up leaving (but not before I sent "Opal" hella creepy text messages, being in her home town and all.) and went to Sweet Tomatoes. I remembered why I hate buffets: I overeat like mad.

So what did I wear for such an eventful day?

Suffice to say, I don't feel very attractive.

That's in my brother's bedroom, which used to be my bedroom. Yes, that is an electric guitar. The boy taught himself how to play and now he's in a (fairly reasonable) band. And yes, that is also a Star Wars poster behind me. He's also a huge nerd.

Top: Forever 21
Cami: Torrid
Jeans: Lane Bryant
Shoes: Victoria's Secret

I took these outside Union Station. I'm pretty awesome. But the lighting was nice.

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation in NC 25
Eyes: MAC Paint in Bare Canvas, MAC Eyeshadow in Posthaste and Amber Lights, MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black, MAC Plushlash in Plush Black

And just for fun, a fantastic picture of me and my grandma. No, I'm not drunk. My family doesn't drink.
